Just read on the news that Steve Furber, my old hardware lecturer from the Computer Science department at the University of Manchester has been awarded a CBE for his services to the computer science field, most notably, his contribution to created the BBC Micro computer! Gee, I remember the Dare Devil Dennis days on this classroom favourite!

Don't be alarmed, I'm at the hospital right now, but I am not the patient.  Its the mother-in-law.  Actually she checked herself in about a week ago to discover that she has stomach ulcers. Well, that's what she thought, but its not the case, actually, we don't know what the problem is, so she have been at the hospital this week having various checks made on her. Its kind of strange, she seems alright, considering she makes a trip back home everyday by herself (the hospital is just around the corner), so we're all stumped on what's actually wrong with her. I'm at the hospital now, hoping that she goes to sleep.  She made several calls tonight back home saying she is scared since the person in the next bed has checked out of the hospital.  Not sure what she is scared off, its a hospital at the end of the day...maybe she has done something bad, so is afraid to sleep on her own. The thing is what annoys me is I am doing this out of charity. O...

  Happy Chinese New Year! Another Chinese New Year in Taiwan, and as usual, I get into the kitchen and rustle up a dinner. I've been particularly lazy, so didnt really put too much effort this year. We had an addition of the sister-in-law this as she as returned to Taiwan, so another to deal with for the coming new year. The good thing is that we get a whole week off from work. Its a good thing I guess, having some time off from work, but the other side of the coin is that I'm at home most of the time in the presence of my in-laws. Hmm...nevermind. Happy Chinese New Year you all, I hope this year bring you all much good luck, good health and good fortune!
