A Weekend in Hsin Chu

Well, all I can say is that my wife, my daughter and I have been sent on some crappy family political mission this weekend. We were forced to go to Hsin Chu with the father-in-law (also known as b*******-in-law), after months of no contact from him. Nice to keep people expectations high isn't it? There I was, Saturday morning, enjoying my precious lie-in when the mother-in-law (also known as b****-in-law) started banging on our room door, telling us to hurry up and get up and changed to go to Hsin Chu, its important for us and gave us a whole bunch of reasons.

Reluctant to get out of bed already, I consulted my wife, and she said we should go and get it over with. Fine, I said, so we woke the little one up, got everything ready (which meant the bottle steriliser, clothes for Amelie, clothes for my wife and I, 9 bottles, toothbrush, toothpaste, shower gel, baby's pram, baby's bathing tub, big tin of baby milk, 2 umbrellas, bag of nappies, and some snacks for Amelie for the journey - yes its not easy taking a toddler on long journeys).

When we go to the door, I saw the b****-in-law still in her night gown, and it dawned on me, the b**** is not going, she is just sending us on her fecking political family mission again, just to make her own standing better.

Why? why are we fighting her battles? If she has any guts, she fight her own battles herself. God Dammit! If only murder was not a death penalty here....

You might think, "ah, forget it Steve, just enjoy the air, get away from the city". Yes, that would be a nice idea, if it didn't rain for the whole weekend and if the in-laws was out of our way. I wouldn't mind if the b*******-in-law took us to other places in Hsin Chu and see other things, but oh no. He has to look after is fruit garden, he has lots of work to do for HIMSELF, never mind us, we can stay in, watch the rain or whatever is on the TV in an old dusty house where its not that safe for toddlers to walk about and fall over. Yeah, like we can't do that in Taipei, where at least the toilet works and the floor is clean. So wanna nun-chuck some people.

The server is still down at the moment, still trying to find time to go get another power adapter for the router (since this may be a cheaper alternative to fix my problem). Will look to go to a place called "Nova" near Taipei Main Station tonight (that's if the boss don't lynch me to work more hours!)

Anyway, birthday wishes to Cat (April's Fool!). Hope you all had a good night out over the weekend!

Rainy Weekend

What a way to end the weekend, being soaked top-to-bottom in heavy rain! It came very suddenly and we just wanted to get home, so we took the chance and ran all the way home in the rain. It was refreshing actually, I have had a lot on my mind recently and the being soaked certainly gave the brain a bit of a reboot. But then I realised Taiwan rain is quite acidic, not a good thing. Anyhow, I have updated my homepage with something useful for the lunch hours. Its a random lunch selector, which basically displays a picture of a local eatery which we would go to for lunch. It has been pain in the rear-end when deciding where to go for lunch. There are so many choices in the area where I work, so having something like this may ease the troublesome decision which we all make on a daily basis. I've also made use of the ned 8MB ADSL line by doing a bit of downloading and listening to online radio. Certainly makes a difference and if you guys can get it, then get it! I just read th...

Superman Snappy

Snap the man of steel and score points! My first attempt, I got 82. This will just have to do until I get a new camera.

Homeward Bound (For 2 Weeks)

We're setting off later this evening to UK for a couple of weeks. Can't wait to see Manchester and Ashton-under-Lyne again, not to mention to catch with friends and family and of course do a bit of driving! I haven't been driving for more than a year now since I have been in Taiwan, feels like my legs have gone! We're taking a lot pineapple cakes, which Taiwan is famous for, back to friends and family in UK, and some other gifts too. On the way back, we'll bring back all sorts of stuff to Taiwan, so another post on that when I get back. Not sure whether I'll be able to get online as often, but will try my best to keep my blog updated as much as possible while I am over in UK. My grand parents also arrived in UK from Hong Kong to attend my brother Jimmy's wedding. So time would probably be spent travelling around and take to places to see and have fun. Don't worry, as always, I'll be taking pictures! It will be Amelie's first time visit to UK...
