Another Dud

Typhoon, what typhoon? Well typhoon Kaemi has decided not to take a our of the North of Taiwan, but head South, where the weather is hotter. Can't blame Kaemi.
So that's dud number two. Was kind of anticipating we would get a day off from work. But alas, I am here in the office, blogging in my lunch hour. I think everyone's mood is different too. They too were expecting to get a day off. Ah well, better luck next time.

On another note, after work I went to a local supermarket which we seldom go to and discovered a small shop selling very old toys. It was like a small museum, displaying the first generation robot toys based on Japanese animation of the 70's and 80's. It was fantastic. I spotted Voltron (the robot made up of five different lions) and God Mars toys (more updated 3D pics here). I also spotted McDonald's Happy Meal toys from 1988, celebrating the Chinese Zodiac year of the Dragon. I remember these toys, because I was in Hong Kong at the time and got some these toy Dragon figures from the Happy Meals. Talk about nostalgia! The shop actually specialises in finding toys and figures which are no longer in production. You just need to tell them what is it you want to find and buy, and they will look for it for you. A very niche service!

Ah, the good old days, without a care in the World, and just enjoying childhood with close friends and wonderful toys and TV! Take me back to the good old days!

Homeward Bound (For 2 Weeks)

We're setting off later this evening to UK for a couple of weeks. Can't wait to see Manchester and Ashton-under-Lyne again, not to mention to catch with friends and family and of course do a bit of driving! I haven't been driving for more than a year now since I have been in Taiwan, feels like my legs have gone! We're taking a lot pineapple cakes, which Taiwan is famous for, back to friends and family in UK, and some other gifts too. On the way back, we'll bring back all sorts of stuff to Taiwan, so another post on that when I get back. Not sure whether I'll be able to get online as often, but will try my best to keep my blog updated as much as possible while I am over in UK. My grand parents also arrived in UK from Hong Kong to attend my brother Jimmy's wedding. So time would probably be spent travelling around and take to places to see and have fun. Don't worry, as always, I'll be taking pictures! It will be Amelie's first time visit to UK...

Goodbye P-100

I'm just going to upload the last ever set of photos from our loyal Sony P-100. I will update this post tomorrow. Yup, the Sony P-100 is a gonna. It ain't gonna rise from the ashes, this time... For now here are some photos taken today around Taipei using the Sony P-100 before the evening's accident, which involved Chien-yu, her foot and the hard marble floor we have in our room. We now got a good excuse to get a new, better digital camera. Its going to have to be a Sony one though, because I invested in a 1GB memory stick. Need to make use of that as much as I can! Sigh, money, money and more money.

Another Day Of Rest

We spent another day of resting since Amelie and Chien-yu have started to feel ill. Its not been good since we came back with all the hacking coughs and runny noses. Its a lot cooler than it is in Taiwan. Today's highest reading was a mere 20 degress celsius. Even with the cooler weather, we still decided to go for a car ride. We set off in the morning making a pit-stop at Asda, a local supermarket to buy some Camaline lotion for Amelie. She seemed to have developed a rash on her skin and has been scratching a lot. So this Camaline stuff should ease her itchiness until he cold symtons are gone. From there, we took the road which lead us pass my old secondary high school, Stamford High School and my college, Ashton Sixth Form College. Many things has changed at both education institutes, with additional buildings and new paintwork around the buildings. I also spotted that a lot more house are being developed in the area. Ashton has certainly changed a lot since I last reme...
