Another Weekend, Another Monday

And guess what I found when I came in (early might I add) on my desk? Another red ticket for not locking my cabinet. Curses! Ah well, must remember to lock it before I rush off to a company cinema event.

How was the weekend? It was so-so. We went out to Xi Men Din in the afternoon. Well, we got there and realised there's isn't much for married couples with kids to see and do, plus the weather was scorchio! A meat roasting 38 degrees C! Amelie couldn't take the heat, so we decided to end our walk around Xi Men Din and took an air-conditioned taxi home (although the taxi smelt a bit smokey). After the NTD$180 taxi ride home, we got some movies from the local Blockbuster and stayed in our air-conditioned room for the rest of the day. Bliss! I even managed to get some work from the office done too.

However it was not such a peaceful ending to the day. Amelies was sick and threw up on our bed at 3am in the morning. Milk and pasta was in the mixture, and oh what a smell! Bleary-eyed and tired out of my brain, I had to do the clean up operation while my wife took the Amelie to shower. Didn't get to sleep until 4am.

For Sunday, I did absolutely buggar-all. I woke up around 10am, had something to eat with Chien-yu and Amelie, and then we all went back to sleep again. It was a day of sleeping in the air-conditioned room. In the evening, we went out for dinner with Steve, an old friend who left my current workplace and helped him install an air-conditioner in his room. It was good to see him again and he treated us to dinner, which was very kind of him. Thanks Steve! After all the heavy work was out of the way, we switched on the air-conditioner, it was working at least! The sorry thing was that he didn't have the remote control for the unit! Ah well, better to have air-conditioning than none! Steve should have had a really good night sleep last night.

Monday morning, decided to go to work early and fill out my timecard (another thing which I forgot to do on Friday). Luckily I got in the lab before the rained arrived. It absolutely chucked it down, which was weird because I distinctly remember that is was sunny and hot when I left home. Must be the typhoon doing weird stuff to the weather system. Not sure whether we would get a day off tomorrow. The typhoon looks to be heading towards the southern part of the island, not the North, where we are currently. Sigh, looks like a day of coming to the office in pouring rain tomorrow. Anyway, I'm spending today to set up my new work machine (faster and a little better than my old one), going to take it easy today I think.

Rainy Weekend

What a way to end the weekend, being soaked top-to-bottom in heavy rain! It came very suddenly and we just wanted to get home, so we took the chance and ran all the way home in the rain. It was refreshing actually, I have had a lot on my mind recently and the being soaked certainly gave the brain a bit of a reboot. But then I realised Taiwan rain is quite acidic, not a good thing. Anyhow, I have updated my homepage with something useful for the lunch hours. Its a random lunch selector, which basically displays a picture of a local eatery which we would go to for lunch. It has been pain in the rear-end when deciding where to go for lunch. There are so many choices in the area where I work, so having something like this may ease the troublesome decision which we all make on a daily basis. I've also made use of the ned 8MB ADSL line by doing a bit of downloading and listening to online radio. Certainly makes a difference and if you guys can get it, then get it! I just read th...

Superman Snappy

Snap the man of steel and score points! My first attempt, I got 82. This will just have to do until I get a new camera.

Homeward Bound (For 2 Weeks)

We're setting off later this evening to UK for a couple of weeks. Can't wait to see Manchester and Ashton-under-Lyne again, not to mention to catch with friends and family and of course do a bit of driving! I haven't been driving for more than a year now since I have been in Taiwan, feels like my legs have gone! We're taking a lot pineapple cakes, which Taiwan is famous for, back to friends and family in UK, and some other gifts too. On the way back, we'll bring back all sorts of stuff to Taiwan, so another post on that when I get back. Not sure whether I'll be able to get online as often, but will try my best to keep my blog updated as much as possible while I am over in UK. My grand parents also arrived in UK from Hong Kong to attend my brother Jimmy's wedding. So time would probably be spent travelling around and take to places to see and have fun. Don't worry, as always, I'll be taking pictures! It will be Amelie's first time visit to UK...
