It's All Happening Again

For England (and Brazil who lost to France 1-0) that is. England has crashed out of the World Cup after their Euro Nemesis Portugal beat them in a penalty shoot-out, 3-1. Once again, it was the talent of Portugal's goalkeeper Ricardo denying Englands entry into the semi-finals. There were a lot of tears on the England team, and on the fan's too. Better luck next time lads and of course, farewell to Sven.

I personally think we should give Ricardo a honoury British Citizenship so he can play for England next time! He's just bloody good!

We visited David's (a colleague of mine) place on Friday night. Their family's house is MASSSIVE! We was in awe when we stepped through the front and saw a 55-inch greeting us! We got a tour of the house (a proper tour, because the apartment was that big) and we tucked into some KFC and Pizza from Dominos. After the feast we then engaged into some Street Fighter action on the PS2 (thanks Mike!) on the massive TV, it was heaven! There also some shenanigans regarding a young lady, Pei-jun, who we met at David's house too. David says she's an old school friend, but we think there is more to the story. She was very hospital and nice towards us too, and look after us well, serving fruit and all! Thanks to Pei-jun too! She's studying Art in New York and has returned to Taiwan recently for the Summer break. It was a fun night, and thanks again David, for inviting us!

Over the weekend, Amelie and Chien-yu got their hair cut at one of the local salons for the Summer. The heat is on the border of "Oven Hot" right now, not sure whether I can last long out there. Amelie can now say a lot of things now and have started to string more words together. She can say things like "I want", "don't want" in Mandarin, she knows where her cheeks are when we say "cheek cheek?" and where her nose, ear, belly and feet are. I think she can understand a lot now, in all 3 languages, Mandarin, Cantonese and English, although she still have a little difficult talking. Its probably due to many languages being spoken in the house! Nevermind, we'll let her take her time. Amelie has had a couple of nasty mosquito/insect bites on her legs. Not very nice indeed, so we are keeping close eye on Amelie so that she doesn't scratch and spread the infection. Right now she's watching her favourite DVD, Miffy and Friends. Lord help me!

We getting ready for Klaus wedding gig at Capone's tonight in Taipei. Will tell you more tomorrow!

Lunch with Grandma Ng - Japanese Style

For lunch, after praying at Grandpa's resting place, we set off to a local Japanese restuarant which Grandma likes very much. I went for the roasted eel in teriyaki sauce with rice. It was really really nice, and could have had another two bowls. Grandma's favourite dish was the barbecued squid. We also have pan-fried dumplings, beef rice-don, and my Aunt ordered her favourite sushi rolls. Really enjoyed that meal! More photos here .

Its been a while!

Hey all, sorry, had been away for so long.  Sometimes have so many things going on and so many thoughts, not sure what to write. Life update is that we've moved out of the in-laws place, and renting an apartment in the city.  It's not brand new. No lifts, and we live on the top floor, but it's my home now. Just recently been in hospital for stomach ulcers causing internal bleeding.  Nightmare, when you wasn't allowed to eat or drink for 4 days.  But I'm back home now, but only this morning, I discovered I now have a gout attack.  FML. Anyway, life continues to surprise or annoy me in new and fascinating ways. Mimi is still with us by the way, always staying loyal and guarding. Until next time.

Homeward Bound

Hello again, thought I'd give an update of what's going on in my mundane life. After chatting with my wife, We will be moving back to my parents's home in Manchester (well Ashon-under-Lyne to be precise). We feel it would be better for her to have people around like our friends and family should anything happen. Plus I get to hang out with my friends again! As with my work, I will still be working at my current job in London. The plan is that I will be travelling to London to work in the office for three days (Tuesday to Thrusday) and work from home in Manchester for the other two days. I felt it was a good compromise, and I'll get something back for the travel and accommodation costs (some but not all), plus I'll will be stilling working and earning the dough. Now we're in the middle of putting stuff in boxes ready for the big move in mid-June. Dug out a lot of stuff that we don't need, so we'll be holding a car boot sale to make some ca...
