Operation A8

After a lot of discussion and of course gossiping at the lab, we decided to make a venture to Shinkong's A8, where our colleague Alex's love interest works as a sales assistant for jewellery. We all have been giving Alex a lot of tips and advice to impress the girl and for Alex to win the girl's heart. Especially the seasoned pros like David L and Hank (his "father") had been giving advice for almost two weeks. Let's hope something works out for Alex.

Her photo had been doing the rounds before we went out on our operation, and there have been a general consensus that she looks very pretty, and quite a match for Alex. Even our David H went "Oooh!" when he first saw the picture. So she's got to be something eh?

However of course, what we've seen on the photograph may not be a full representation of what the A8 girl is actually like. So commenced Operation "A8".

On Thursday, we decided to get together for dinner at Niko Niko, a modern sushi restaurant on the 6th floor of nearby Shinkong A4. The food was great, and we had all enjoyed it very much. We have ordered too much, but it I thought it was worth it.

After dinner, we ventured to A8 to see this mysterious girl. She stood out to us as she wore this strange white blouse. Aparrently its the jewellery store's uniform. She looked pretty from the distance, so Chien-yu and I decided to take a closer look, pretending we didn't know Alex as he ask her what she was doing after work.

I wanted to take more photos of her, but was relunctant after my interruption earlier, when I wanted to take a picture of some the bakery goods at the super-market in the base and told that I was not allowed to take pictures inside Shinkong. What have they got to hide I wonder? I felt my freedom was a little violated.

Anyway, after seeing this A8 girl, we thought she wasn't too bad actually and suited Alex. David L was more interested in another sales girl on a nearby counter. Hank and David H just said "No Comment" and David H added "Don't worry Alex, she isn't my type". Alex wasn't sure he was happy or a little cheesed off.

Much discussion took place with the other lab colleagues who wasn't asking. I think Alex has had enough and wanted to talk about something else. Dont' worry Alex, we will. Next week's topic is on Gavin...his girlfriend is coming back to Taiwan from Birmingham, UK.

Lunch with Grandma Ng - Japanese Style

For lunch, after praying at Grandpa's resting place, we set off to a local Japanese restuarant which Grandma likes very much. I went for the roasted eel in teriyaki sauce with rice. It was really really nice, and could have had another two bowls. Grandma's favourite dish was the barbecued squid. We also have pan-fried dumplings, beef rice-don, and my Aunt ordered her favourite sushi rolls. Really enjoyed that meal! More photos here .

Its been a while!

Hey all, sorry, had been away for so long.  Sometimes have so many things going on and so many thoughts, not sure what to write. Life update is that we've moved out of the in-laws place, and renting an apartment in the city.  It's not brand new. No lifts, and we live on the top floor, but it's my home now. Just recently been in hospital for stomach ulcers causing internal bleeding.  Nightmare, when you wasn't allowed to eat or drink for 4 days.  But I'm back home now, but only this morning, I discovered I now have a gout attack.  FML. Anyway, life continues to surprise or annoy me in new and fascinating ways. Mimi is still with us by the way, always staying loyal and guarding. Until next time.

Homeward Bound

Hello again, thought I'd give an update of what's going on in my mundane life. After chatting with my wife, We will be moving back to my parents's home in Manchester (well Ashon-under-Lyne to be precise). We feel it would be better for her to have people around like our friends and family should anything happen. Plus I get to hang out with my friends again! As with my work, I will still be working at my current job in London. The plan is that I will be travelling to London to work in the office for three days (Tuesday to Thrusday) and work from home in Manchester for the other two days. I felt it was a good compromise, and I'll get something back for the travel and accommodation costs (some but not all), plus I'll will be stilling working and earning the dough. Now we're in the middle of putting stuff in boxes ready for the big move in mid-June. Dug out a lot of stuff that we don't need, so we'll be holding a car boot sale to make some ca...
