Weekend Report

Another Monday at work means that another weekend has flown by. What did we get up to? Nothing. Nothing at all on Saturday. We just slept for most of the day and indulged in a bit of reading and DVD watching. The weekend had been particulary good actually. The M-I-L had not been home since Friday night and we never saw her come back on Sunday either. We haven't a clue where she has gone or where she is now. The house seemed like it breathed a sigh of relief since that she was not here for a few days. It was noticable too that the level of evil-presence was gone and some calm and quietness had entered into the house for a little moment. It was bliss.

I managed to finish reading Terry Pratchett's "Going Postal", another one in the line of the Discworld series, and as usual it was brilliant. If you know about the post office and the telecoms industry, you go read this book. I'm looking forward to get my hands on "Thud!", Pratchett's latest, featuring the lovable Ankh Morpork City Watch. Apparently, they have recruited a vampire into the Watch!

Well with Saturday done-over with a lot of sleep. On rolled Sunday. I made breakfast for the wife and daughter (egg pancake) and we then set off to the Living Mall (京華城) for a little window shopping. We saw some Swatch watches which incoporates the MRT travel card, and of course lots and lots of toys. I was also lucky to come by a couple of polo t-shirts in my size.

Amelie was a little difficult yesterday, but then again, she always had her off-moments. Perhaps she was too tired and at the same time too interested in her surroundings. I can literally see like a mental fight going on in her head. "Shall I sleep first? But there's so much to see! What shall I do?". This normally gets her frustrated and angry. Poor berry!

I was pretty impressed by the architecture there. The whole place looks like a giant metallic planet had crashed into the side of a building from the outside. On the inside you can see the other side of this gigantic iron globe which has entered into the building. Most impressive and very contempary. Here are a couple of pictures I took with the camera.

Speaking of which, we need to get a new camera. Chien-yu had accidently dropped th camera, face first onto the hard marble floor of our bedroom. All I heard was a glass-crunch like sound skidding across the marble floor. It was dropped on the lens and the lens have become crooked. Hell, it won't even retract back into the camera now. Well at least the camera can take pictures around corners! Sigh. Looks like another high expenditure is on its way. When we get a new camera, I will take picture of the old Sony P-100 to show you the damage.

I'm thinking of getting the Sony DSC-H5. Looks rather good and has a lot more functions and all that good stuff. The only downside is that I can't buy additional lenses to put on the front. If I wanted that cabability, I would need to get a DSLR type camera, and they aren't cheap! Decisions, decisions, decisions!

Amelie Back In Taiwan, Reunion With Mister Donuts

Amelie finally back in Taiwan!  Have missed her for three months, but have been busy at work, not had chance to catch up with her.  However, Amelie did some catching up herself...with her favourite Mister Donuts! You must cut down on those foods!

Its been a while!

Hey all, sorry, had been away for so long.  Sometimes have so many things going on and so many thoughts, not sure what to write. Life update is that we've moved out of the in-laws place, and renting an apartment in the city.  It's not brand new. No lifts, and we live on the top floor, but it's my home now. Just recently been in hospital for stomach ulcers causing internal bleeding.  Nightmare, when you wasn't allowed to eat or drink for 4 days.  But I'm back home now, but only this morning, I discovered I now have a gout attack.  FML. Anyway, life continues to surprise or annoy me in new and fascinating ways. Mimi is still with us by the way, always staying loyal and guarding. Until next time.

Goodbye P-100

I'm just going to upload the last ever set of photos from our loyal Sony P-100. I will update this post tomorrow. Yup, the Sony P-100 is a gonna. It ain't gonna rise from the ashes, this time... For now here are some photos taken today around Taipei using the Sony P-100 before the evening's accident, which involved Chien-yu, her foot and the hard marble floor we have in our room. We now got a good excuse to get a new, better digital camera. Its going to have to be a Sony one though, because I invested in a 1GB memory stick. Need to make use of that as much as I can! Sigh, money, money and more money.
