Today we decided to venture into the city centre of Manchester, where the infamous Arndale Centre is located. We went shopping for a Louis Vuitton bag for the mother-in-law, costing a marvellous GBP545! Luckily it wasn't out of our pocket!
We went for a walk around the newly built/refurbished Arndale Centre. It certainly was different and a lot brighter. It seems that the city has spent a lot of money in the city centre. It certainly looks busier in the city centre with many people milling around going about their business. I think the term "People Mountain, People Sea" was appropriate for today.
Amelie was in a right strop and I couldn't hold back, I had to give her a good telling off. Sigh...its been on tough on all of us today, and it wasn't a good day. Chien-yu didn't even get to the shoes she wanted to buy. Nevermind, better luck next time.
After a stressful morning in the city centre, I went for a stroll back in my home-town Ashton-under-Lyne to take some photos since the weather was really good, with blue skies and great cloud skylines. I couldn't resist taking a lot more shots.
I took pictures of the library and areas around the market, just to remind myself of the childhood days in my home-town. I then ventured towards my old home, where our old take-away shop was. It was great to the see the shop again, and made me remember some of the old memories I had of the place (I had spent twenty-two years of my life there). The current owner seemed to have recognised me, and invited me in to see what they have done to the old shop. Mr. Young, the current owner has done a great job renovating the whole place. Walking up the stairs and seeing the rooms certainly brought some emotions to me. They even kept the picture of a tiger which my brother and I bought when we shared the attic together. It was great to know that a little piece of the Cheung history still exists at the old shop.
After saying my thanks and goodbyes to Mr. Young, I ventured to the local corner shop which I used to go to as kids. Again walking down memory lane. The shop is still under the Pravati family, who's daughter Pragna used to go to same high school as I did. Today, it seemed to be manned by Pragna's older sister's husband. The shop hasn't changed a bit.
From the corner shop, I crossed Oldham Road and ventured into the grounds of Christ Church, a place which I visted every Easter and Christmas when I was studying at the Canon & Johnson Church of England Primary school. The church was closed, but it was good to walk in the grounds again, again, walking down memory lane again.
After taking a long walk in memory lane and taking as many pictures as possible, I went off home to sleep a little.
After a quick dinner, Peter (congrats on getting into CID!) and Chris came round to pick me up to go out to Manchester for a night out. It was good to be out and about, and enjoying the night life, and its been a while too! We went to a few bars (drinking juice mind you) and ended up at a place called Jabez Clegg, a club/bar near the Manchester University campus. It was great experiencing the night out atmosphere again. The music was great, the people was great and it felt great. I ended up getting home for 4am! I haven't done that in a long time! Hahaha!
