The Longest Week Of My Life....

Well actually, both my life and Chien-yu's life. Mother and baby came back home on Saturday the 6th November. Everything was ready at home, the cot, the heating was on and the nappies were ready. We thought we were prepared......and we were so not prepared. Just the other day, I had to bath baby Amelie. It was stressful. Amelie really doesn't like her baths, so it had to be done quick... 10 minutes flat. Chien-yu and I have also lost a lot of sleeping hours too. It was kind of expected, but it was pretty hard to get used too. My friend Susan just told me that we were actually lucky. She knows of other mothers at her workplace, and they get less sleep! Fingers crossed, lets hope that stays the same! There have also been a lot of nappy changing. I'm getting quite good at it now. Sure, there are occasions when Amelie still cries and screams, but there are occasions when she's quiet as a mouse and I think, actually enjoys the nappy change. (who woul...

Its A Girl!

As of today, the 3rd of November 2004, a new addition has been made to the family. A baby girl, named Amelie was born and weighed in at 7 pounds exactly. Mother and child are very well, and hopefully will be leaving the hospital within the next 2 days. It was a heart stopping moment when the baby came to the world, I was totally speechless. I am so proud of our little baby and of course even more proud of Chien-yu who brought the baby to this world. I had taken some photographs not along after baby Amelie was born. Click on the links below to see the pictures. I will add some more as and when I get them onto the computer. Also, they may take a little while to download because the files are pretty big. Catch you all soon, I have a lot of fathering to do now. Photograph 1 Photograph 2 Photograph 3 Photograph 4 Daddy Steve.

Launch Day - 5 Days Remaining

Thought it would be time to update the blog, since it has been a while. So what has been happening? Well as you can guess from the title, the baby is yet to come. We're expecting it to be here on the 3rd November, but I read somewhere that only 8% of babies are actually born on the due date. The likelyhood is that the baby will born within two weeks on either side of that due date. So Chien and I are playing the waiting game. My manager has been very kind to let me work from home for the last two weeks, just in case the baby does decide to come a little early, so I really appreciate that. Also, I have been given a week away from work once the baby is born and to work from home for a little while after that week. Its in our traditions that the man is to stay around to look after the partner and the baby after the baby is born. So there's no stopping for me! Fatherhood does scare me. I never really had a good model to work from, but at least if I do the opposite ...

A pat on the back to those who worked around the clock to get this new market setup so quickly. It good to know that the traders now have a new home to sell their wares! See HERE for the opening ceremony photographs. Here are some more photographs of the opening ceremony And are some photographs showing the inside of the new Phoenix Market Hall. Page 1 Page 2 Page 4
