Goodbye Granddad, Have A Safe Journey, You Don't Have To Suffer Anymore

At 08:30am on Saturday 7th February, 2009 (Hong Kong time), my grandfather passed away. This is the first family death I have experienced...and its hard, really hard. I don't know what to think or do right now. But at least I know he doesn't have to suffer anymore and be at peace. Mum, I just want to tell you that Granddad heard your words, don't blame yourself for anything. He would want you to carry on your life, he knows you have suffered a lot, he understands, so don't worry. We are all here for you too. Granddad, we hope you enjoy your journey and hope that no pain and suffering can touch you now. Be at peace, be at rest. Although you are away on your trip, we are still a family.

Happy Chinese New Year!

Just a quick note to say Happy Chinese New Year for 2009 from Hong Kong!

Turning off the "Do you want to restart?" Pop-up Dialog

If you ever need to disable this annoying pop-up for Windows 2003 Server, here's how: - Click on Start --> Run... Type in services.msc and press the [Enter] key. The services window should show up now. Find an entry in the list for "Automatic Updates". Right-click on "Automatic Updates" and select "Stop". The dialog message box should not pop up now for the rest of the Windows session. I find this particular useful for automation, where this dialog box could pop-up and then cause the automation scripts to fail and stop running. In addition, you make be working with software products which requires you to have an older Windows service pack to be installed instead of the latest one so that the product can be installed correctly.

DNSChanger & Boot.com - What A Bastard

My computer had been recently hit by the DNSChanger and the Boot.com virus. It was quite a pain to get rid off. But, with thanks to Google and some time to seach through its results, I finally found a couple of solutions. For DNSChanger , a virus (or trojan? I can never understand the difference), it basically hi-jacks your network connections and sets the DNS server of your computer to something else. You can find out more of how the DNSChanger virus/trojan works from this YouTube video here. As the video suggests, your best bet to get rid of DNSChanger is to install Malwarebytes application, let it run a scan and rid yourself of this annoying bugger. Malwarebytes is a freeware, although you can upgrade it by paying some money so that it auto-protects your computer. The freeware version doesn't auto protect, but you can run it manually when you think you have something on your system. It will help identify and remove many of the tricky viruses and trojans. Do remember t...

Sweet Daddy D - Jeff Dunham

Another classic from the puppet master, Jeff Dunham, in the form of Sweet Daddy D, his new "manager", or PIMP (Player In Management Profession). I think of all the acts which Jeff has, I like Walter and Sweet Daddy D the most. Makes you roll on the floor laughing. Enjoy.
