The Day Before The Wedding

Sunday was a bit of another rush. I woke very early in the morning to get some McDonald's Big Breakfast for the family, only to come back with the food and get moaned at by my father for buying too much. Dammit, I was hungry and the rest of the family needed to eat too, just wasn't sure what he was so angry about. Nevermind.

After a spot of breakfast and a bit of a chit chat with my grandparents, the morning flew by with Amelie playing around after breakfast. For some reason Amelie has developed a fascination for stairs, in which she likes to climb up the them and then back down, and then back up again, repeating the exercise ritual as often as possible. Although she has mastered climbing up the stairs, she is still a little under-confident with the climbing down. Today, she actually slipped and rolled down a few stairs! Luckily she did not make it all the way to the bottom where there is a shoe rack. I was sitting at the bottom of the stairs when Amelie slipped. I literally caught her in mid-roll with one arm. After carefully checking her for fractures and of course making her stop crying and laugh again, Amelie was back on the those stairs. She is strong-willed indeed.

After the morning incident, the family got ready to go for lunch at Manchester's Glamourous Chinese restaurant for dim sum. It was pretty much short lived, since most of us was pretty full from the breakfast. We didn't stay for long, since we had some shopping to do. The task was to get some shoes for myself, a dress and shoes for Chien-yu and Amelie.

We made our way in the seven seater Kia Sedona which we hired to the Trafford Centre, a huge shopping complex which was know to be the biggest in Europe to do our shopping for the wedding on Monday. As you can guess a lot of walking around which is pretty tough on my grandparents. We started to look for something for Amelie. A dress of some kind, but for some reason she refused to try the dresses on. Must be the material or something which she did not like about the three dresses which my mum and Chien-yu picked out for her. We eventually gave up and started to look for the dress for Chien-yu and shoes for myself. That took about 30 minutes, which was pretty good. But we still had a problem with Amelie, so we just decided to pick a dress for her and hope for the best that she would wear it on the wedding day without kicking and screaming. Amelie also tried on a couple of high-heels which were not her size, but she seemed to have a lot of fun taking the shoes from the shelves and trying them on.

After a grueling day at the shopping mall, we decided to get home as soon as possible. By this time I was feeling rather under the weather. I think I have caught a bad cold, with a hacking cough. Actually, writing this entry in the blog is giving me a bit of a headache, so I'm taking a break every now and then from the screen.

My good friends Kalps and Bahv stopped by in the evening to say hi and I caught up on a quick round-up on what been happening to my friends since I have left for Taiwan. It looks like everyone I know is doing pretty well for themselves, which is always good to know.

Jimmy, the groom and my brother came around late tonight to let me know where the wedding is held and what I have to do. Then we all went through some old Chinese traditions and ate some glutinous rice balls. I wasn't really listening as I wasn't feeling too well. I'll guess I'm going to have to wing it tomorrow with my cold and headache. Man I need some sleep! Its an early morning start tomorrow and its going to be a very long day. I better get some sleep. Will update you all on the wedding a couple of days later. Ciao for now!

Amelie Back In Taiwan, Reunion With Mister Donuts

Amelie finally back in Taiwan!  Have missed her for three months, but have been busy at work, not had chance to catch up with her.  However, Amelie did some catching up herself...with her favourite Mister Donuts! You must cut down on those foods!

Its been a while!

Hey all, sorry, had been away for so long.  Sometimes have so many things going on and so many thoughts, not sure what to write. Life update is that we've moved out of the in-laws place, and renting an apartment in the city.  It's not brand new. No lifts, and we live on the top floor, but it's my home now. Just recently been in hospital for stomach ulcers causing internal bleeding.  Nightmare, when you wasn't allowed to eat or drink for 4 days.  But I'm back home now, but only this morning, I discovered I now have a gout attack.  FML. Anyway, life continues to surprise or annoy me in new and fascinating ways. Mimi is still with us by the way, always staying loyal and guarding. Until next time.
