Happy New Year!

Didn't really do much today. Not really in a particular mood to celebrate, not sure why. Rather than staying at home, we went for a ganger at a local department store Min Yao (no, not the Chinese basketball player playing in the NBA). Just a couple of pictures of Amelie having fun at the small amusement centre on the top floor of the department store. Just surprised the store was actually opened on New Years Day.

Didn't want to make any resolutions since I either don't keep them, or I just end up forgetting about them. But to keep with the spirit, my resolution is simple, I just want to get through 2007 being happy.

I missed out of the fireworks. I wanted to take some pictures, but seeing the number of people on the streets, I thought better of it. Instead we sat around the television and watch the fireworks there as we got surround sound of fireworks going off outside (Taipei 101 isn't that far away from where we live). Apparently, there were like millions and millions of people of the streets and traffic chaos on Zhongxiao East Road and Ren-Ai Road. Maybe it was a good idea to stay at home on New Year's Eve.

Anyway, I took some pictures of 101 after the New Year revellers have gone home. One thing struck me is the amount of Sony advertising on 101. There had been a lot of debate on the news as to why the name "Taipei" is not high-lighted on the tower. Hmm, maybe next year eh?

Lunch with Grandma Ng - Japanese Style

For lunch, after praying at Grandpa's resting place, we set off to a local Japanese restuarant which Grandma likes very much. I went for the roasted eel in teriyaki sauce with rice. It was really really nice, and could have had another two bowls. Grandma's favourite dish was the barbecued squid. We also have pan-fried dumplings, beef rice-don, and my Aunt ordered her favourite sushi rolls. Really enjoyed that meal! More photos here .

Its been a while!

Hey all, sorry, had been away for so long.  Sometimes have so many things going on and so many thoughts, not sure what to write. Life update is that we've moved out of the in-laws place, and renting an apartment in the city.  It's not brand new. No lifts, and we live on the top floor, but it's my home now. Just recently been in hospital for stomach ulcers causing internal bleeding.  Nightmare, when you wasn't allowed to eat or drink for 4 days.  But I'm back home now, but only this morning, I discovered I now have a gout attack.  FML. Anyway, life continues to surprise or annoy me in new and fascinating ways. Mimi is still with us by the way, always staying loyal and guarding. Until next time.

Homeward Bound

Hello again, thought I'd give an update of what's going on in my mundane life. After chatting with my wife, We will be moving back to my parents's home in Manchester (well Ashon-under-Lyne to be precise). We feel it would be better for her to have people around like our friends and family should anything happen. Plus I get to hang out with my friends again! As with my work, I will still be working at my current job in London. The plan is that I will be travelling to London to work in the office for three days (Tuesday to Thrusday) and work from home in Manchester for the other two days. I felt it was a good compromise, and I'll get something back for the travel and accommodation costs (some but not all), plus I'll will be stilling working and earning the dough. Now we're in the middle of putting stuff in boxes ready for the big move in mid-June. Dug out a lot of stuff that we don't need, so we'll be holding a car boot sale to make some ca...
